Who must utilize the services of a Medical Review Officer (MRO)?
A. Federally regulated samples must be reviewed by the MRO. This applies to negative and non-negative (substituted, adulterated, and positive) results. Federal regulations prohibit a financial relationship between the MRO and the laboratory. For company-based testing programs, the use of MRO services is strongly recommended.
