Who must stop at interstate weigh stations?
Those who are required to stop at interstate weigh stations are truck drivers carrying goods. These scales are managed by the Department of Transportation since some roads have weight maximums. Carrying excess amount of weight on a rig may result in a fine. The weight of the container must be the exact weight noted on the documents the driver has for the cargo. Some states require buses to stop at weigh stations as well.
