All foreign fellows enrolled with the Postgraduate Medical Education Office must purchase UHIP upon arrival. However, fellows are only eligible for UHIP 20 days before the start date of their program. UHIP coverage only needs to be purchased during Ontario’s three month waiting period for the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).
