Who Mentors for Denver Kids, Inc.?
Denver Kids, Inc. mentors are called Friends. The Mentors come from all walks of life, all ages, and from a myriad of careers. The mentor is required to attend an interview with a DKI staff member, submit names of references, proof of automobile liability coverage, and permission for Denver Kids, Inc. to obtain any other necessary data on the Mentor’s history, including DMV and criminal background checks. Final decision as to the Mentor’s suitability for our program is at the sole discretion of the agency. Mentors are invited and encouraged to attend training seminars, as well as other activities and events, providing opportunities to enhance skills and interact with other Mentors. Each mentor works closely with a member of the Denver Kids, Inc. counseling team who is assigned to the student. The counselor is readily available to the Friend, and communicates with him/her on a regular basis regarding the student’s progress in school, and any other pertinent information. The Denver Kids,
