Who Manufactures GPS Units for Vehicles?
The most important brand names respected in the U.S. marketplace are TomTom, Garmin and Magellan. Garmin is the leader. They own almost half the marketplace for sales of GPS units in the U.S. TomTom has about one-fifth of the market and Magellan slightly less than TomTom. The rest of the market is divided up among several smaller companies. However, I personally recommend going with one of the Big Three. Your warranty, customer service and access to future upgrades are much better with these firms who are going to be around.
