Who maintains the roads in the County?
A The Virginia Department of of Transportation (VDOT) maintains the public roads (interstate, primary and secondary) in the County. Maintenance includes potholes, traffic signals and route signs, trees/branches, roadside ditches, curbs and gutters, and snow removal. A The County collects only what we can recycle. Local plastics market demands include #1 and #2 bottles and jugs. It is important to realize that not all plastics are created equal. Each type (#1-#7) and each shape container has unique ingredients and properties. As a result, they must be processed separately during manufacturing. As recycling markets expand, the County will make every effort to increase the different commodities collected.
