Who lives in the Antarctic?
Life is at the limits for survival in the Antarctic. Man has never lived there permanently. But penguins, whales and seals, albatrosses and other birds are perfectly adapted to life in the Southern Ocean. How can we look after the Antarctic? To ensure that Antarctica’s unique qualities are not damaged, all Antarctic expeditions adhere to stringent policies on environmental management and conservation. Wastes are removed, special areas are set aside for protection, and a policy of minimising impact is applied to all activities.
