Who knows the story of mary celeste?
I remember watching a documentary on the Marie Celeste a few years back which theorised that fumes from the industrial alcohol that was being transported on the ship began escaping from the casks that it was stored in. Then a spark ignited the fumes causing a short and relatively harmless explosion (they tested this theory on the documentary and found that it could have been possible for such an explosion to occur without damaging or setting the ship on fire). Upon seeing the burst of flames escaping from the cargo hold, the crew naturally thought the ship was on fire and abandoned her, climbing into the life-raft. Then it is theorised that something happened to prevent the crew from climbing back on board and they simply drifted away whilst the Marie Celeste sailed onwards.
