Chinese pottery goes back to prehistoric times. The Chinese have been making ceramics since the 1st century during the Han Dynasty. Some of their porcelain featured beautifully painted flowers, landscapes, historical scenes, and calligraphy. Other porcelain objects were decorated with folk symbols and bright colors of folk and religious art. Beautiful porcelain vases and other objects of porcelain were produced during the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and the Song Dynasty (960-1279).
