Who is V2010 ISU Aviation Planning?
Pursuant to winning the 2010 Olympic bid, the Vancouver 2010 Integrated Security Unit (V2010 ISU) stood up with the mandate to plan and deliver security for the Games. The ISU is comprised of four partners: RCMP (lead); Vancouver Police Department; West Vancouver Police Department; and the Canadian Forces. All four agencies maintain a continuous presence at the ISU in Richmond. Aviation Planners are responsible to coordinate aviation assets involved in security monitoring operations, and develop mitigation plans that deter and/or prevent individuals from disrupting the Games through unauthorized/illegal use of an aircraft or intervention with aircrew. Several external organizations participate as SME/Advisors, but the primary representatives are: Transport Canada (TC – embedded at the ISU): who has legislative authority to regulate Canadian airspace and aircraft operators; NAV CANADA: Air Navigation System service provider with the mandate to plan and manage Canadian and delegated U.S.
