In October 2005, the owner of the privately held company we worked for decided, without notice, that he just didn’t feel like being in business anymore. At 4:25 on that Friday, we were doing our jobs: preparing for a major product launch, completing a huge rebranding effort, and creating marketing and public relations plans for the following year.
