Who is the worst president in U.S. History?
I bet many of you think of our 43rd President George W. Bush. If you look through history, I think you will find Presidents worse than “Dubya.” 43. Franklin Pierce – 14th President Pierce gets my top spot. Let us start with how Pierce was elected. He is a little-known candidate until he asks his friend Nathaniel Hawthorne to a write a biography on the future president called “The Life of Franklin Pierce.” Hawthorne is arguably the most popular writer of his time, having recently written “The Scarlet Letter” and “The House of the Seven Gables.” Pierce’s biography is anything but, Hawthorne fails to mention Pierce’s drinking habits and conceals his view on slavery. “The Life of Franklin Pierce” is a hit and this dark horse becomes our 14th President.
