Who is the vocalist?
The vocalist is Melissa Melendez. The fifth track is Amigos del Pincer. I have a lot of friends who are artists and painters so I wrote the tune with them in mind. The tune is a Puerto Rican Plena and I am joined by Christian Nieves on the cuatro. That’s followed by a tune called Melissa and the classic bolero, Tus Ojos (Your Eyes). Who can forget the original version as performed by Tito Puente and Santito Colon? It’s a gorgeous tune and your interpretation is beautiful. Thank you. I always try to include a bolero, a danza or a plena in my albums. I grew up with that music and I think it’s important to represent nuestra cultura y raices (our culture and our race). The eighth track is called Latinos and the last song is a danza titled, Mis Amores by Simon Madera. Madera is the great grandfather of bandleader, Jose Madera (of the Latin Giants of Jazz).
