Who is the Tri-County Diabetes Alliance?
The Tri-County (Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester Counties) community of the Eastern Shore of Maryland have united together to help lower the number of Tri-County residents with diabetes. At an alarming rate of 14.3 % of the Tri-County citizens being diagnosed with diabetes, almost twice the national rate, health professionals recognized the need in this area for a targeted diabetes awareness, prevention , and educational program. Thus, a unification of health professionals to address the need to reduce the alarming diabetes rate within the community was born. This unification became known as the Tri-County Diabetes Alliance and has been in existence since 2004. The Tri-County Diabetes Alliance is made up of both local health care professionals and community volunteers!
