Who is the Stig on the BBC show Top Gear?
The original Stig (in a black suit) was Perry McCarthy, who has raced in Formula One and competed in the legendary Le Mans 24 hours. He did the first 22 programmes. After that, he decided it was time to move on as he had a race programme to contend with as well. According to The Top Gear TV show, “while filming for the third series of the show, something went horribly wrong, and the Stig ended up in the murky waters off the coast of Portugal, trapped in a nitrous-injected Jaguar XJ-S”. They even set up a book of condolence on their site… But, there is a new Stig (in a white suit). His identity remains a well kept secret though.
