The Salvation Army is a group of people – officers, staff and volunteers – who truly care about the communities where we live and work. Our services are designed to meet the needs of our neighbors who are going through some tough times – homelessness, domestic violence, substance abuse or financial challenges. Isn’t The Salvation Army a faith-based organization? Absolutely. The Salvation Army began as a church, founded by William Booth, back in 1865. His mission was to meet the needs of the poorest in London in a practical, holistic way – providing food, shelter and counsel. The Salvation Army strives to meet the needs of the whole person, providing social services to all and spriritual counseling and worship opportunities to those who choose to participate.
