Who is the Real Slim Shady?
The Marshall Mathers LP brings up interesting persona questioning. The last album, The Slim Shady LP held yet another. This is where it gets confusing. Marshall Mathers is Eminem’s given name. From what I have gathered, Eminem is just his performing name, not a character. Slim Shady represents the epitome of “I don’t give a damn,” and is crazier than “Eminem and Kim combined.” So here is our first major difference. There is supposed to be a character difference between Eminem and Slim Shady. Slim Shady is who I thought the sell-out wasthe guy who goes on MTV to “tell it like it is,” (or what his audience wants to hear) by dissing *N Sync (“am I the only one who realizes they stink?”).
