As she states at Maria’s arrival, “I’m Liesl, I’m sixteen years old and I don’t need a governess.” Outside of the family, there is Rolfe (played by Daniel Truhitte) who plays Liesl’s love interest and, as he states in the song he sings to Liesl, he is “seventeen going on eighteen.” So it just depends on if you mean oldest child in the family or in the movie.
