Who is the odd one out of Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and John Glenn?
Glenn never went to the moon, if that’s what you mean. But Glenn and Armstrong were both historic FIRSTS: first American to orbit the Earth, and first man to walk on the moon, respectively. (But the Russians had already had two men who orbited the Earth before Glenn.) Both Glenn and Armstrong were born in Ohio; Aldrin was from New Jersey. Armstrong and Aldrin flew both Gemini and Apollo missions, while Glenn – with only one mission in space, was a Mercury astronaut only – though in ’98 he got to take a ride on the Shuttle. Armstrong was Navy and Glenn a Marine (thought by some to be an adjunct of the Navy) while Aldrin was Air Force. Glenn’s never been divorced, Armstrong and Aldrin both have (Aldrin twice). Aldrin stuggled with depression and alcoholism; the others didn’t. Aldrin and Armstrong didn’t go into politics; Glenn did.
