Who Is The Next Of Kin?
Next of kin refers to the blood relatives of the decedent and becomes important in making decisions about funeral arrangements and personal property. The next of kin is the (a) surviving spouse, or such person as he or she may request to have appointed; (b) child or children; (c) father or mother; (d) brothers or sisters; (e) grandchildren; (f) nephews or nieces. Note: Usually, Guardianship and Power of Attorney cease at time of death.
