Who is the mother of Hercules?
The mother of Hercules was a mortal named Alcmena (Alcmene). Though Hera was the wife of Zeus (Hercules’ father), she was not the mother of Hercules. But even though Hera was the Hercules’ mother, Zeus named him Hercules, meaning Hera’s glory. The error in thinking that she was is especially derived from the plot of Disney’s 1997 animated adaptation of the Hercules myth.
