Who is the Mormon Godhead, then?
The L.D.S. God the Father is an exalted man, called Elohim, who they say once lived as a mortal man on an earth much like this one. This exalted previously human being lives in his spiritual heaven – it even has a name, ‘Kolob’ – and some of their apostles have taught that their God lives with myriads (millions upon millions) of similarly exalted previously human wives in a celestial polygamous state, begetting an even larger number of spirit children who have no bodies. They say the earth was created at his direction in order to provide a place for them to receive bodies and then to have the ability in turn to complete their time on earth, eventually to create new universes themselves.
