According to Fire Marshal Joel Stein, 14-year-old Baltazar Delgado said a smoke alarm woke him up, leading him to jump out of bed and immediately run to his sister’s room across the hall. Delgado told Stein that he saw flames in the corner of the room with thick smoke on the floor.As his 10-year-old sister was getting out of bed, Delgado’s 6-year-old sister was still in the upper bunk, Stein said. The boy grabbed his sister and they ran out of the house. Firefighters arrived at the home within minutes and found thick, heavy smoke and flames shooting out a window of the single-story home. The mother, Angel Martinez, told crews that everyone was accounted for and out of the home.
