Who is the inventor of television?
Television was effectively invented by committee. The “idea” that pictures could be sent by electricity has existed ever since the invention of the telegraph. However, for there to ever be a television industry including broadcast by RF, the essential invention was the setting of standards by the NTSC. These were experts in many disiplines that were able to define a workable SYSTEM that could be achieved by the practical knowedge of the time. Sure there were earlier demonstrations of pictures with electricity, even with radio transmission, but this did not produce an industry, it was not Television. Printing before Gutenburg invented moveable type, was just a curiousity for the rich, not the engine of mass communication. The standards of the NTSC were remarkable, innovative, and became the defining moment for the creation of the Television industry. These were the heros that changed what was possible into what is.
