Who is the inventor of firefly lights?
Stephen Taylor, inventor of Firefly Magic Firefly Lights lived on a ranch with a pond in North Texas with his wife Kim. During the spring and summer, fireflies also know as lightning bugs, would begin lighting up the evening near the water’s edge. Growing up in Southern California, seeing fireflies flashing in the evening was a new and fun experience for Stephen, as he commented, “Someone should invent little lights that exactly recreate the look of Fireflies for kids who don’t grow up with them.” Kim acknowledged the idea as they continued to watch Mother Nature’s tiny little creatures with their glowing lanterns dance across the pond.Firefly Magic® Firefly Lights hit an emotional chord with millions of adults who fondly remember chasing Fireflies when they were children. Now those adults have created their beautiful backyards, they can’t wait to recapture their childhood memories . . . sharing them with their own children, friends, and family. A California-raised engineer invented Firefly Magic Firefly Lights after a stint working in North Texas. He often saw fireflies twinkling nearby as he sat by a private lake in Van Alstyne. He thought children west of the Rockies should not be deprived of fireflies just because the climate there is too dry to sustain them. Stephen Taylor’s invention is a string of waterproof LED lights that mimic the tiny fireflies’ greenish-yellow glow and can be laced among shrubs or tree limbs. He sought to replicate the predominant firefly species’ twinkle color and size. The lights flicker and fade just like our summertime symbol.
