Who is the Higher Learning Commission (HLC)?
The HLC is one of six regional institutional accrediting agencies that evaluate an entire educational organization in terms of “student learning, governance and administration, financial stability, admissions and student services, institutional resources, institutional effectiveness, and relationships with internal and external constituencies.” Although most of the colleges and universities in the 19 states covered by the HLC are in the upper Midwest, the geographic range extends from West Virginia to Arizona.
