Who is THE heavyweight boxing champion of the world?
There is no one right now that holds that title. The title that you speak of is the linear and true heavyweight championship of the world. Currently, there are three titlists out there, but not a true champion: IBF and WBO- Wladimir Klitschko- considered the best. WBC- Samuel Peter WBA- Ruslan Chagaev The last person to hold the linear and true title was Lennox Lewis, and in order for the vacancy to be filled, the number 1 and number 2 contenders must fight each other. Right now, Wladimir Klitschko is considered the best and is ranked number 1. Samuel Peter is ranked number 2. They have fought once before and Klitschko won a decision, but the circumstances have changed, and if the two were to meet today, it would have the utmost significance because the winner of Klitschko-Peter 2 would give us the first linear and true heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis retired… Here’s hoping that the match gets made.
