Who is the gilded statue, which stands at 25th Street and Kelly Drive, meant to represent?
It is of Joan of Arc. Created by Emmanuel Fremier in 1874, it was bought by the Fairmount Park Art Association in 1890 and placed where it now stands in 1948. An almost identical sculpture stands in the Place des Pyramides in Paris. Source: Fairmount Park Art Association. Sculpture of a City. New York: Walker, 1974. pp. 124-30. 730.
