Who is the better label head for their time, Berry Gordy or Sean Combs?
Although I think P.Diddy blew himself up in a major way over the last decade by bringing some dope artists to the forefront and helping to take hip-hop fashion to a new level, I would still have to go with Berry Gordy. Berry not only brought good music and fashion to the forefront, but he helped define the Motown Sound that we still look too for inspiration. He also helped his artists create careers and have staying power. Most of the artists Berry introduced are still with us and are some of the most loved and respected artists in the business. We have yet to see if Puffy’s artists can do the same thing.
