Who is the better KITT, William Daniels and Val Kilmer?
I don’t know if I should say this – I was prepared for Val Kilmer to not do a great job with the car, but he asked Gary if he could do one take normally and then do one take where he just did whatever he wanted to do and ad-lib and goof around I was prepared for Val Kilmer to not do a great job with the car. Because it the TV movie – I mean, KITT is supposed to have a mischievous, vaguely gay tone to his voice, and that definitely was not there in the movie. Yeah, it really changed. The car has really become what it should be because the car is the star of the show, there’s no question about it. If he’s kind of a deadbeat, if people don’t love the car, they’re not going to love the show, and Val does a great job. Watching him in movies like Top Secret, you realize that he has phenomenal comic timing. He’s really good in that movie. He’s really funny. It comes across way more in episode one.
