Who is the best middfielder: Frank Lampard, Steve Gerard or Paul Scholes?
In his prime Paul Scholes was better than Gerrard in his prime without a doubt. Paul Scholes influenced Man Utd games when there were others in the same squad (Keane, Giggs, Beckham) who were massively influential in their own right. Gerrard carried Liverpool for years, and he still does, but he had to step up to it whereas Scholes made his mark as a youngster in a team already full of superstars and that isn’t easy to do. Also, look at the trophies Scholes has won and it says a lot too, he has contributed immensely to those trophies and is still an excellent player.
