I would put D. James Kennedy at or near the top too, even though he is also a minister. Yet, as Christian apologists living today if I were to pick one I would choose Ken Ham. If you count the number of apologists who have come under the umbrella of his Answers in Genesis ministry, add to that the many books and DVDs this ministry has created, plus now the Creation Museam and consider the central role Creation vs. Evolution has to the apologetics of today, though others are top notch, Ken Ham to me has done the most.
While there are many good Apologists out there, my favorite by far is Ravi Zacharias. You can check out his web site at www.rzim.org/. I listen to Ravi every chance I get. He is a fascinating man.
