Who is the best bass guitarist in rock and roll ever?
Well, being a bassist myself, I must say that certain bass players were best in one aspect, while another was better in another aspect. John Entwhistle was probably the best educated in music and was, at once, a solo bassist and an excellent rhythmist that just worked perfectly with Moon. Jack Bruce was probably the best improvisor, band leader, and vocalist to be a bassist. Cream was his band and Clapton has never been better than when Bruce was laying down the groove. Getty Lee of Rush is another of my heroes, as was John Paul Jones of Led Zep. Both of them were extremely creative bassists and keyboarders, and vocalists, and a mandolin or lute when needed. For shear raw bass, Geezer Butler of Sabbath had no equals.
