BCS stands for Bowl Championship Series. The BCS is the group of 11 conferences (plus Notre Dame) and four bowl organizations that conduct the five largest post season college bowl games. Each year, one of these BCS games is also the site of the national championship game (NCG) for the Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division 1) of college football.
