Who Is The “Average” Sunset Strip Visitor?
With so much to do on The Strip — from dining to world-class shopping to eclectic nightlife and music scenes — you may wonder who is the “average” out of town Sunset Strip visitor? According to a report commissioned by the West Hollywood Marketing & Visitors Bureau, he or she is a 36-year-old U.S. resident with a high income level, who lives outside of California, is traveling with two people and is visiting The Strip for vacation, pleasure or leisure. The study, which was created by Lauren Schlau Consulting, profiled visitors during the year spanning 2006-2007 and found that they planned to dine at local restaurants (74 percent), shop (58 percent), sightsee/explore (57 percent), socialize (38 percent) and visit nightclubs (32 percent) during their trip. And they had money to spend, with visitors reporting an overall average income of $125,720, and group spending on The Strip averaging $407 a day. Those interviewed at the Sunset Plaza reported an even higher average income of $151,170.
