Who is Tampa Sports Authority and what do they do?
WHO – Tampa Sports Authority (TSA) was created by action of the Florida Legislature. WHEN – May 28, 1965. WHY – The Enabling Act directed the TSA to “plan, develop and maintain a comprehensive complex of sports and recreational facilities.” WHAT – The TSA owns, by virtue of a Deed of Conveyance by the Legislature in its Enabling Act: • 134 acres known as the “Stadium Complex” (formerly Tampa Stadium) and its parking lots. • The Raymond James Stadium and its parking lots. • The St. Petersburg Times Forum (Tampa Bay Lightning Hockey Arena). • The Authority operates three golf courses. The courses are owned by the city and operate financially independent of the stadium: the courses are Babe Zaharias, Rocky Point and Rogers Park.
