Who is sick of these rising gas prices?
Baabsy: Most people don’t remember this, but one of the major justifications given for going into Iraq at the time was that it would secure the oil fields and lower gasoline prices – I heard President Bush himself say this on TV once… With Iraq as our democratic ally, prices would be lower than ever. It amazes me that all these years later, they’ve done nothing but go up since then, and that with our entire army over there, our Marine Corp, all our special forces, our Air Force, we can’t seem to secure the oil pipelines or the fields so that they can pump and export at full capacity… I think only two things can be done to lower gasoline prices, and neither of them is likely to happen in the next decade or so: 1. Americans have to turn away from their love of big vehicles, SUVs, big trucks, and vans and instead buy economical cars. That’s just not going to happen. But it would cut our consumption of gasoline way down. 2. Secondly, we need to demand that Iraq maintain a full capacity
