McCoy is the world-wide chairman of the Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceuticals Group and a member of the company’s executive committee. This makes her head of one of the company’s three divisions. She started with J & J in 1982 as an associate scientist in research & development and advanced to positions of increasing power and responsibility.

McCoy has a bachelor’s of science degree in textile chemistry from the University of Massachusetts. She also possesses a masters’ degree in chemical engineering from Princeton and an MBA from Rutgers.
