Who is Russell Brand and why was he hosting the 2009 VMA?
MTV execs were so impressed with Russell Brand’s debut as host of the network’s 25th Annual Video Music Awards, they’ve already asked the British comedian to MC next year’s ceremony. “My phone hasn’t stopped ringing. Most people thought it was great and I’m pleased with how it went,” Russell says. “The executive producer came up to me straight after the show and asked me to sign up to do next year’s awards too. The viewing figures went up twenty percent on last year’s show which is unbelievable. I’m really flattered.” But nothing’s set in stone just yet, Russell says, adding he is still considering whether or not to accept the offer. “It is the hardest thing I’ve ever done and I will think very carefully about accepting. I spent a lot of time suppressing the urge to scream a career-ending remark during the show.” Sources: http://www.popcrunch.
