Who Is Ricky Gervais?
Ricky Dene Gervais is a popular comedian and actor in England and the US. He is probably most famous for creating and starring in ‘The Office’. Gervais was born on the 25th of June, 1961 in Reading, Berkshire. His father was French-Canadian but moved to the UK before Ricky was born. Ricky’s career started out in music, rather than comedy. He was originally the lead singer of a band called ‘Seona Dancing’ which released two singles. The band was never a success in the UK, but became extremely popular in the Philippines a year after they’d broken up. Gervais became involved in music management. He was the manager of indie band, Suede for a while and then got a job at XFM. He was the music advisor for the television show ‘This Life’. It was at XFM that Gervais met his future friend and colleague Stephen Merchant.
