State law specifies that the public charter school is responsible for providing transportation to students who reside within the school district and who attend the public charter school. The public charter school may negotiate with a school district for the provision of transportation to students attending the public charter school. The school district where the charter school is located must make its existing routes or other existing transportation services available to charter school students in the district. ORS 327.013 applies. These rules apply to children with disabilities as well as nondisabled children. To the extent that a student needs special transportation as a related services, the charter should specify which agency will bill the State School Transportation Fund for reimbursement and which agency is responsible for providing special transportation for the student.
