Who is responsible for the short listing?
Each member of the committee, including the lay member, should be involved in the short listing process by assessing candidates against the person specification. All members of the committee have equal say in both shortlisting and determination of suitability. The chair of the AAC and chief executives of Trusts do not have the power of veto over short listing or recommendations made by members of the AAC on the suitability of candidates for appointment. The chairman should ensure that all members of the committee are involved in the short listing process and are content with the outcome.
