Who is responsible for pruning private trees?

0

The owner/occupier of the property in which the tree, hedge or shrub is situated is responsible for ensuring that the foliage is properly maintained. The County Council cannot fund the pruning of private trees from around established street lights. In the case of newly installed street lights, the County Council will fund the initial pruning of any tree found to be obstructing the column. Thereafter, it will be the responsibility of the owner/occupier of the property to maintain the necessary clearances. See the Highways Maintenance section on overhanging vegetation for more general advice.
