Who is responsible for making the funeral arrangements?
The next of kin is responsible for taking care of the funeral arrangements. There is an official line of succession of responsible parties. The surviving spouse, if there is one, would be responsible first. If there is no spouse or if there has been a divorce, then the oldest child would represent the family. If there are no children, the parents of the deceased would be in charge. Responsibility then passes to the siblings of the deceased and so on.
