As of September 15, 2001, the Province of Alberta assumed responsibility for maintenance of all Primary and Secondary (numbered) Highways throughout the Municipal District of Rocky View, such as Highways 1, 1A, 2, 2A, 8, 9, 22, 22X, 40, 68, 72, 560, 563, 564, 566, 567, 574, 758, 766, 772, 791, 797, 806, etc. Service on these roads is carried out by maintenance contractors hired by Alberta Transportation.
