Who is responsible for Macbeths downfall?

0

Although many of the characters contributed to Macbeth’s downfall, I sincerely believe that he himself was ultimately responsible. Instead of remaining loyal to the king and accepting his rank as the second most powerful man in the land, his overly ambitious nature caused him to kill King Duncan, along with many other innocents. Also, his pride and impudence (as a result of his belief in the witches’ prophecy) made him believe that he was invincible, which caused him to be killed by Macduff. These character flaws (along with the influence of his wife and the witches) ultimately brought about the downfall of Macbeth.
