Who is responsible for installation and maintenance of the water meter?

At this time the homeowner is responsible to hire a plumber to install the water meter to standard, but all conversions are subject to an impending “pilot project” (see Q12). The meter is supplied by Saint John Water and then maintained by Saint John Water after it is installed. Maintenance of piping and isolation valves installed in conjunction with the meter is the responsibility of the property owner.
