Who is responsible for airport security?
The responsible body varies according to the country in which the flight takes off from. Some of the main bodies are: • in the United States, the TSA, or Transportation Security Administration, part of the U.S. government • in Canada, CATSA, or the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority • in the United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland), the Department for Transport • in Australia, aviation security is under the mandate of the federal Department of Transport. In all cases, local and state bodies, the airlines and the airport operators may impose additional security requirements.
