Who is required to take the TOEFL exam?
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for all applicants who have received their undergraduate degree from an institution where the language of instruction is not English. Score reports must come directly from ETS. TOEFL scores are valid for 2 years. In lieu of TOEFL, applicants may also submit scores, not more than 2 years old, from the Certificate of Proficiency of English (CPE) , the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and the Columbia University English Placement Test (EPT)*. 9. Can I defer my admission to the college? Yes, for up to one year. Doctoral admits must have written permission from the program faculty. To defer Admission, you must submit the non-refundable $300 tuition deposit to reserve your space. 10. How long should the personal statement be? Applicants should keep the statement under 3 pages. Font size, spacing, and general format are left to the applicant’s discretion. 11. When are decisions mailed? Decisions should be maile
