Who is required to take the COMPASS test?
Placement testing is not required for admission to Tri-County, but is required before taking a college level course in English or math. The majority of prospective students at Tri-County will take the COMPASS test. You may not be required to take the COMPASS test if you have completed college courses in English and math at the 100 level or higher with a minimum C grade or if you have previously taken COMPASS or ASSET at your high school. If you are entering a certificate program that does not require general education courses, placement testing may not be necessary. COMPASS placement test scores are valid for three years.
